Annual Walk to promote mental health awareness and fight the stigma that surrounds these illnesses. A celebration of hope, dignity and recovery for individuals with mental illness.

NAMIWalks Massachusetts 2013 is a 3-mile picturesque Walkathon around the Charles River.

A community Walk to raise awareness of mental health, the walk fights stigma and helps educate the general public about mental illness.

There is music, a pre-Walk program with speakers -- this year State Attorney General Martha Coakley is the keynote speaker -- an exhibit area and other entertainment.

Started in 2004, the Walk has raised $3 million for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts' (NAMI Mass) education courses, support groups, grassroots advocacy, helpline, website, and resource library.

All NAMI Mass programs are offered free of charge.

The Walk accounts for half of the budget of NAMI Mass.
