When a child is diagnosed with type-1 diabetes, they begin a lifelong struggle to maintain their health.
There is currently no cure for this disease, but researchers have made strides and are hopeful that they will discover the cure in the future.
The Boston Field of Dreams will be hosting our fourth annual “Field of Dreams” Wiffle Ball Tournament and Fundraiser on May 11, 2013 at the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston.
All money raised will be donated to the Joslin Diabetes Center, in their mission to find a cure for diabetes.
Paul Fitzgerald organized “The Field of Dreams” Wiffle Ball Tournament/fundraiser three years ago, after his eight year old daughter was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes.
This daylong event consists of a children’s tournament in the morning, and an adult tournament in the afternoon.
There are all kinds of activities for the kids including pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, K-9 demonstration, Simon says, and much more.
We also have food and music, and everyone receives a t-shirt.
In three years it has been a lot of fun, as well as raised $142,500.
100% of the money raised has been donated to the JDRF and Joslin Diabetes Center, toward research for a cure to Diabetes.
