Join the fun and sign up to run or walk the Western Greenway Trail on Sunday, October 5.

Now its our third year, the Waltham Land Trust's fall Race for Open Space is a great way to show support for saving land and building trails while getting a little exercise.

The 3.1 mile course travels through a variety of habitats, including cattail marshes, meadows, and deep forests at Beaver Brook North Reservation in North Waltham and Rock Meadow in Belmont.

Gather six folks together and compete in the Team Challenge, where you could be crowned the Western Greenway Trailblazers!

As a trail run, the course is challenging, with roots and rocks along the way, plus a small bridge over Beaver Brook to cross, but walkers and families are encouraged to participate!

Prizes for top finishers in a variety of age categories, plus extras for lucky walkers and volunteers!

Bertucci's pizza for everyone afterwards on site.
