Sponsored by The Friends of the Sharon Public Library (The Friends) and Spring Valley Country Club (Spring Valley) and designed to appeal to people of all ages and abilities, the event will help raise money for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Programming at the SPL.
Cost is just $3 per person; $10 for a foursome.
Children aged 5 and under play for free.
“Mobile-MiniGolf inside the Sharon Public Library is a novel, new way to bring the community together to have fun and support the library,” says SPL Director Lee Ann Amend.
“This is going to be a great event and we hope everyone in Sharon will come out to support it.”
Adding to the fun will be a contest to guess the literary theme of the 9-hole course created by SPL Head of Youth Services Jonah Smiley and a raffle of awesome experiences generously donated by Spring Valley.
Located on Tiot Street in Sharon and featuring wide, panoramic fairways, strategically placed bunkering, and beautifully manicured, undulating greens, Spring Valley is a private golf and tennis club known for offering some of the finest and most challenging playing conditions in New England.
Among the raffle prizes are a round of golf for three, including lunch, with a Spring Valley host member making up the foursome ($400 value); a day at the Spring Valley pool, including lunch, for a family of 4 ($150 value); a golf lesson for one from a Spring Valley pro ($100 value); and a tennis lesson for one from a Spring Valley pro ($75 value).
Proceeds from the raffle will be used to support STEAM Programming at the SPL.
Raffle tickets are just $5 each or five for $20, and may be purchased at The Friends table at the SPL starting on June 8th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm and continuing through the event.
Founded by Joe Buckley of Norfolk in 2009, Mobile-MiniGolf has helped raise thousands of dollars for public libraries in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The upcoming SPL event will feature challenging greens played with putters and real golf balls, custom score cards, and scoring pencils donated by Spring Valley.
A “practice green” will be onsite at the library for two weeks before the event to allow participants to prepare for the upcoming fundraiser.
Mobile-MiniGolf “Ambassadors” will also be on hand to welcome players and introduce the event.
Hours for the Mobile-MiniGolf Tournament will be 11:00 am – 6:00 pm on Friday, June 19th, and 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 20th.
The event will be held rain or shine.
