The Buddy Walk and Family Picnic is a fun-filled day that brings together family members, friends, teachers, co-workers, and community members to promote acceptance and inclusion of all children and adults with Down syndrome. We invite you to 'Step In Style' at the 16th Annual Buddy Walk & Family Picnic, our signature event that welcomes over 3,000 to celebrate this community and raise vital awareness and funds to ensure all people with Down syndrome are given opportunities to lead meaningful lives.
(There is an optional ride back at the halfway point.) Following the walk, families and friends will enjoy a picnic, music, face painting, and activities for the kids!
This year, the Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Registration and pre-walk festivities begin at 11:00am and the 3-mile, scenic walk around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield will kick-off at 1:00 PM.
The MDSC Buddy Walk Program is the state’s largest public awareness platform to promote acceptance and inclusion of all children and adults with Down syndrome.
People who participate and fundraise for these events support all MDSC programs and services that provide hope to new and expectant parents, training to medical professionals and students, tools to educators, opportunities for self-advocates, a strong voice on Capitol Hill, and resources on all topics related to Down syndrome for anyone who needs it.

Directions to Lake Quannapowitt: Route 128, exit 40 to Route 129 Wakefield Center. Stay right at traffic circle and take first right off circle. Follow contours of lake for one mile heading towards center. Gather at the bandstand/tents near the playground. Parking is available along the lake or take a right onto Church Street and park in the lot near the playground or adjacent streets.
