The brainchild of church pastor, Father Wayne Belschner, Sacred Heart Festival was developed as a vehicle to raise funds for the church’s non-religious year-round youth programming. Proceeds will support activities like Friday night youth group, which serves children from grades three and up beginning at 6pm. As described by Father Wayne “It’s a small way in which we can keep kids off the streets at least one night a week.”

Father Wayne goes on to describe how the festival proceeds will be utilized “Every Saturday evening a large number of youth from the Vietnamese community participate in a volleyball camp located on the church grounds. Sunday afternoons, especially during the summer, activities are provided for the youth of the community.” All youth from the community are welcome to participate in these activities regardless of religious background.

Even while maximizing the funds garnered from program participants, donations and traditional fundraisers, Fr. Wayne and the youth group organizers find that by August most, if not all, of their funds are exhausted.
