Local author Amy Kwei will read her first novel, Intrigue in the House of Wong. Wendy Wong, a Chinese American teenager whose family-owned restaurant just moved from Chinatown New York to the posh Upper East Side. Wendy befriends her neighbors and helps to integrate her family into the new community. Intrigue and suspense abounds when Wendy and her boyfriend are kidnapped. The two teens manage to escape and even rescue the Israeli Ambassador.

This action-packed novel combines mystery and humor, explores the experiences of a Chinese American youngster who successfully straddles two cultures.

Suitable for 6th to 12th grade readers and adults, this book will be for sale at discount and available for signing. Proceeds benefit BCNC’s Youth Center.
