Dog Day Afternoon: a Benefit Concert for the Greyhounds
Hours: | From 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. |
Ages: | Kids, Teens, Adults |
In/Outdoor: | Indoor |
Cost: | $ see below |
Category: | Fundraisers |
Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased at the door on the day of the event. All proceeds go to The Committee to Protect Dogs, a grassroots organization working to place the Greyhound Protection Act on the November 2008 ballot. This humane law will phase out commercial dog racing in Massachusetts by 2010.
We're dedicating each hour of the event to a different Greyhound who lost their life while racing at Raynham Park, like 2 year old Hibbert, who died on New Year's Day 2005 when he ran into a racetrack post and suffered a crushed skull, or 2 year old Starz Voice, who was euthanized on June 25, 2007 after breaking multiple bones in her right front leg during a race. The thousands of dogs who are injured and killed in this 'sport' each year are the dogs we're doing this for and, of course, for the ones we can still save.
