On April 23, 2016, join us at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH for our 8th annual 5k trail race and kids fun run to help raise awareness and funds for our Marine Mammal Rescue and ocean education efforts!
The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals begins with a chip-timed, 5k trail race at 9am (there is also an untimed 5k walk option) in Odiorne Point State Park.
The route was created for the Seacoast Science Center by Eastern Mountain Sports' Extreme Team captain and 2006 US Adventure Racing national champion, Jennifer Shultis.
This is not a pavement pounding road race: you'll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications.
Prizes will be awarded in age and gender categories from 6 to 60+.
Note: Strollers are not permitted on the 5k route and dogs are not allowed in the park.
The Rescue Run is a family-friendly event that is a great way to get outside after a long winter.
All funds raised will help run our marine mammal rescue effort and raise awareness for a healthy ocean.
There is also a kids’ fun run so that the children have something to participate in too!
Children can sign up for the 300 yard dash or ½ mile option.
All children registered for the fun run will receive a prize.

The festivities continue after the Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals 5k and kids’ fun run with prizes, raffles, music, face painting, a beach cleanup, and a mock seal rescue station, between 10am-12pm.
At this rescue station, children can learn about what the marine mammal rescue team does, when responding to a marine mammal on the beach.
We hope you will join us for a fun-filled morning!
