On Friday, June 27 at 7:00pm, Gore Place, the historic Governor Gore estate, will offer a special tour focusing on Independence Day as celebrated in the time of the Gores. In the early 1800s, Independence Day (July 4) was one of the few holidays celebrated by the new nation. Many of our modern traditions and symbols find their origins in this time.

As a Bostonian and a Federalist politician, Christopher Gore was eyewitness to and participant in the birth of the United States. During this special Independence Tour, visitors will learn how americans celebrated our national independence in the early 1800s.
