Have fun at the Zoo's annual week long party for teh planet. Each themed day will help you learn how to care for and enjoy our planet through exciting activities, hands-on fun, performances and demonstrations.

In an effort to save paper, the Zoo will not be distributing daily programs at the entrance. Instead, the entire schedule of events is posted on the web and at the Zoo through signage and announcements.

Monday, April 13 - 'Wild World of Fun & Games'
A day filled with fun games with an animal or environmental twist
* Fun & Games Activities, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:
- Interactive games including Animal Bingo 11a.m., 11:30a.m., 12p.m., 12:30p.m. , 1p.m., 1:30p.m., 2p.m., 2:30p.m. (Animal Aerobics and Simon Says in between) - Marco Polo Plaza
- Hopscotch, Hula-Hoop Contests, Leapfrog, Relay Races, and a Bubble Station - Wetlands Trail Entrance
- Marvelous Marvin teaches kids about juggling, stilt walking and more - Wetlands Trail Entrance
- Environmental Trivia Games with DJ Al Martinez (you could win a fun, earth-friendly prize!) - Hungry Bear Plaza

* Animal Tales - Learn all about these amazing animals! Tree Kangaroo 11 a.m. & Gibbons 1:30p.m.

* Animal Encounter outside the Australasia Building at 11:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.

* Get your Passport to the Wild (sponsored by Allstate) stamped for a chance to win great prizes - In front of Zoo Lab

* Sports team Mascots Meet and Greet - Hungry Bear Plaza

- Brown University mascot 'Bruno the Brown Bear' (Roaming throughout the day)

- Newport Gulls (Roaming throughout the day)

- NE Revolution Mascot – 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

- Rhody the Ram mascot - 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

* Display by ETM Green (Ewaste Technology Management)- find out about the green way to dispose of your unwanted electronics, and details about their Green Day Collection at the Zoo on May 2 & 3 - Outside the Education Center

* New York Times will be hosting a coloring contest with the winner receiving a $25 gift certificate to Toys-R-Us - Across from the Flamingo exhibit

Tuesday, April 14 - 'The World in Your Backyard'
A day dedicated to exploring the nature that surrounds us all the time]

* 'Backyard' activities from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:
- Interactive fun stations, including How to Build Animal Habitats, Animal Tracking Education Station, Water & Sand Play Areas and Exploration Areas - Wetlands Trail Entrance

A day dedicated to RI agriculture
* Farm-themed activities from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

- Displays and activities by some special exhibitors, including: - In front of the Farmyard

Wishing Stone Farm

- Samples from Cabot Cheese

- Samples of Rhody Fresh milk given out by representatives from Breed Farm, member of the Cabot cooperative

* Rhode Island 4-H Presentations on our Farmyard Porch:

- Rhode Island Reds - 11 a.m. & 12 p.m.

- 'Eggs on a Farm' puppet show - 11:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.

- Domesticated rabbits - 2 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.

This day will showcase dance, theater and music with an environmental or nature focus
* Special activities 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

- Rhode Island PBS hosts a station for the new show 'Little Amadeus,' with appearances by Amadeus - Hungry Bear Plaza

- Make your own musical instrument using recycled materials - Hungry Bear Plaza

- Story times at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1p.m., 1:30p.m., 2p.m., 2:30p.m. - Australasia Building

* Fiddle Dee Dee band 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. (45 min show) - On the Farmyard Porch

* Traveling Theater will run interactive theater performances from their recycling play, 'Death of Bag Man' (11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12p.m.) with display by Apeiron Institute. - Marco Polo Plaza

Friday, April 17 - 'Healthy World, Healthy You'
This day is dedicated to getting outside and doing fun activities in the natural world

* 'Healthy' & fun activities from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

- Game areas, including Animal Hopscotch, Hula Hoop Contests, Leap-Frog, Simon Says, Animal Aerobics, Bubble Station - Wetlands Trail Entrance

- Face painting and temporary tattoos for children by Inspired Beauty (you could also receive one of two door prizes from Inspired Beauty, plus a recyclable tote while supplies last) - In front of the Education Center

* Table display by the American Heart Association - Fun activites and giveaways geared to ending childhood obesity - In front of the A to Z Gift Store

Saturday, April 18 - 'The Art of Nature'
A day dedicated to art inspired by nature, or created from recycled materials

- Create an environmental tape art mural with TapeArt artist Michael Townsend - Along the Africa Trail

- Help to construct a birdhouse from found objects, with environmental artist Will Machin - On the Wetlands Trail

- See Steel Yard and Recycle a Bike artists welding an animal sculpture out of recycled bike parts - Wetland Trail Entrance
- Create a recycled paper flower garden with artist Gillian Christy - Hungry Bear Plaza

- See a display of home décor pieces made out of street signs, by artist Boris Bally - Australasia Building

- Make a message for the planet as you create your own peace flag with The Peace Flag Project - In front of the Education Center

- Make a scrapbook page about your Party for the Planet experience, with Creative Memories Scrap booking (while supplies last) - In front of the Kangaroo exhibit

- Watch as chalk artist Michael Macauley creates an environmentally themed work of art - Hungry Bear Plaza

- See a sculpture installation inspired by flight in the natural world, by Zach Weindel - Wetlands Trail Area

- Chainsaw artist, Michael Higgins, creates amazing art from fallen trees - Wetlands Trail Entrance

* Watch 'Art by Avery,' a recognized child artist, as she creates a piece of art with an environmental twist - and other kids are invited to make a masterpiece as well 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. - Wetlands Trail Entrance

* Samples from Cabot Cheese - Infront of the Farmyard

* Art demonstrations by butterfly and botanical artist Amy Bartlett Wright, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. - Wetlands Trail
