On Thursday, April 1at 7pm, WGBH will screen a segment of 2009 Sundance Film Festival hit “Earth Days,” an engaging history of the dawn and development of the modern environmental movement.

The film traces the origins of the movement through the eyes of nine Americans who propelled it from beginnings in the 1950s to the moment of triumph in 1970 with the original Earth Day. Discussion follows with director Robert Stone, environmental journalist Stephanie Mills, who appears in the film, and Dr. Michael B. McElroy, Environmental Studies professor at Harvard University.

If you cannot make the event, be sure to catch a full screening of the 'Earth Days' on Facebook. On Sunday, April 11 at 8 p.m., the documentary will be broadcast in its entirety on Facebook, one week ahead of its premiere on television. During this online social screening, accessible through the Earth Days Facebook Fan Page (http://www.facebook.com/earthdays), participants will be able to watch the film and simultaneously interact with friends, other participants – and with filmmaker Robert Stone and American Experience Executive Producer Mark Samels. To RSVP for this historical social screening, visit the “Earth Days” fan page (http://www.facebook.com/earthdays) and click on the Welcome tab.
