Celebrate Earth Day--rain or shine--at a family-friendly event at the Frog Pond on Boston Common with The Nature Conservancy, Radio 92.9 and The Skating Club of Boston.

Hear live music; sample local and natural foods and enjoy Earth-friendly vendors and family activities; and win free tickets to Earthfest in May.

From noon to 3 p.m., take the planet with The Nature Conservancy's Picnic for the Planet. We'll a Guinness World Record® attempt to be part of the world's largest outdoor picnic spanning the globe.

The soundtrack will be live music courtesy of Radio 92.9. Performances will include Ocean*Transfer from noon to 1 p.m., The Ground Up from 1-2 p.m. and Jackson Weatherbee from 2-3 p.m.Special thanks to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Food Should Taste Good for their generous donations.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Skating Club of Boston which manages the Boston Common Frog Pond, is teaming up with Down:2:Earth to sponsor a D:2:E Green Spot, with local vendors offering information about living green in the city and activities for families.

Picnickers can visit Earth-friendly vendors, including Massachusetts Farmers Markets, Honest Tea, Cow and Crumb, Whole Foods Markets, Flavrz Organic Drink Mix, Emmett’s Edibles, and Progressive Asset Management among others.

Family-friendly activities – including arts and crafts workshops using recycled materials – will also be part of the day’s entertainment.
