Hepatitis B (HBV), one of the leading causes of liver cancer, is known to disproportionally affect Asian-Americans. In fact, as many as 1 in 10 Asian Americans is infected with hepatitis B, and a quarter of those people will eventually die from liver cancer. This disparity is evident in Boston, where data from the Public Health Commission’s indicates Asian-Americans represent 50% of new chronic hepatitis B cases.
