To commemorate National Healthcare Decisions Day, the Natick Visiting Nurse Association and New Century Homecare Services will host an educational seminar for the public on the topic of advance directives.
“Advance Directives: What are they, and why do I need one?” will be held on April 16, 2013 from 4pm – 5:15pm at the Lebowitz Meeting Hall at the Morse Institute Library, 14 East Central Street, Natick.
Elderlaw attorney Susan Shipley will address the different types of advance directives an individual should prepare, such as a health care proxy and HIPAA releases and a living will, which is a discretionary document an individual might want to prepare.
Pamela Fishman, LSW, CHP-SW, social worker with the Natick VNA, will provide practical tips for discussing advance directives with loved ones.
