Put your sneakers on this fall!

You’re invited to volunteer during WGBH’s inaugural 5K road race.

You definitely don’t have to be a runner to enjoy the excitement of our first 5K on Sunday, November 15th!

Please review the volunteer position descriptions listed below and email me at jaime_reese@wgbh.org if you’d like to help.

Please make sure to include the following information in your email response:

- Your full name

- Preferred position (top 3 in order of preference)

Description: Runners will charge up their Fitbit and hit the starting line with fellow fans of WGBH TV and Radio as we kick off our inaugural 5K road race.

The USATF-certified course travels through the DCR Artesani Park in Brighton and around the scenic Charles River.

All volunteers should arrive for their shifts at DCR Artesani Park, 1234 Soldiers Field Rd., Brighton, MA 02135

WGBH 5k Run for Public Media Position Descriptions and Shift Times:

Volunteer Photography Assistant, 10am-2pm: Ask guests posing for pictures to sign an appearance release form

Arrow Holder/Energetic WGBH 5K Ambassador Volunteers, 10am-1pm: Hold arrows signs to guide runners along the course, cheer on and encourage runners

Volunteer Costume Handler, 10am-2pm: Assist costume character move about the crowds at event

Curious George Costume Wearer, 10am-2pm: Dress in Curious George costume and help engage with runners, hand out bananas at the end of the race (character size requirements: 5’1”-5’3”, average build)

Running Pep Squad Volunteer, 9:30am-1pm: Keep up high energy to encourage runners along the course, cheer

Water Station Volunteer, 9:30am-1pm: Hand out water at each mile marker on the course (a great team-building opportunity for running clubs, too!)

Volunteers are critical to our ability to provide a safe, well organized event.

Without volunteers, a 5K race would be logistically impossible to produce.

We hope you’ll be able to volunteer (or run) for this good cause.
