This year, the race will benefit a cause close to the hearts of many Boston College affiliates – The ALS Association’s Home Health Care Initiative – Honoring Peter Frates.
Pete Frates is the 31-year-old former Boston College Division 1 athlete, and creator of the world famous Ice Bucket Challenge, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2012.
The Peter Frates Home Health Initiative is a pilot program of The ALS Association, working with its Massachusetts Chapter, to provide in-home caregiving assistance for individuals living with ALS in Massachusetts who cannot otherwise pay for these services.
The initiative is named in honor of Pete Frates, who inspired the world to fight ALS by taking the Ice Bucket Challenge.
