Andover Christmas Academy Tree Display
An Andover Christmas Academy will have at its heart a special exhibition of twenty decorated trees, with each tree designed around an object or series of objects from the collections of the Historical Society. This year's exhibit highlights the other side of education in Andover - Not Just Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmetic. Explore the exhibit as you progress hourly through different classes, school festivities, clubs, and extracurricular activities including:
* Morning Farming Chores - see an apple picker & fruit press
* Home Economics Classes - examine an 1870s sewing machine
* Lunch Hour - reminisce about the plastic trays and long lines
* Girl Scout & Cub Scout Meetings - compare uniforms from the 20th century
* Band Practice - imagine the sounds made by the instruments
* Senior Prom - picture yourself getting ready for the big night
* plus seven other uniquely educational displays from the Society's collection!
Each tree is being decorated by an individual, group or business from the Andover community including:
* Andover Fire Department
* Memorial Hall Library
* Andover Historical Society Volunteer Guild
* Wingate at Andover
* Girl Scouts Shawsheen Service Unit
* Marland Place
* Cub Scout Pack
* and many more individuals from all over Andover!
The trees and the accompanying inspiration objects will be displayed throughout the Amos Blanchard House. Don't miss your chance to see this popular exhibit, enjoyed by over 2000 visitors in past years.
