Lincoln Birthday Celebration at the Forbes Museum

Activities for Lincoln Day include military drills with re-enactors from the 22nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Company A and the 7th Tennessee Company G.
The 22nd Mass is based in Plymouth, MA; the 54th Mass is an African-American Infantry and the 7th Tennessee is part of the regional Washington Civil War Association.
The United States Sanitary Commission Boston Branch (the 22nd Massachusetts ladies civilian group) and the Attleboro GOP Lincoln Re-enactors will present a Lincoln Civil War Kitchen display, including an appearance by First Lady, Mary Todd Lincoln. Visitors can write a letter to a civil war soldier as one of the activities.
The Navy Band Northeast Woodwind Quintet “Crosswinds” will be performing in the Museum’s exhibition Room. An exhibit of paintings, prints and sculpture from the FHM Lincoln Collection will be on view.
The Forbes House Museum Lincoln Cabin will be open to visitors, a tradition begun by Mary Bowditch Forbes, granddaughter of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, who commissioned the construction of an exact replica of the President’s Kentucky birthplace in 1923. In the tradition of Ms. Forbes, hot chocolate will be served.
The suggested donation for Lincoln Day is $5 per family.
