Heritage Dinner Family Style: Legend, Lore and Mystery
After our family style dinner, participants will Trick-or-Treat around the darkened Center. Then the evening is divided into two age-appropriate activities.
For children under 8, we’ll have supervised seasonal stories and games at the Center. Children 8+ (with an adult) walk to the Odiorne Family graveyard, where Roxie awaits.
First, she’ll tell us about this hidden away graveyard: the oldest in New Hampshire! Then she’ll regale us with local legends—suitable for the season and the family. Afterwards, we return to the Center by flashlight; families will be on their way home by 9:00 pm.
Costumes are encouraged, but remember to dress for the weather and the walk! Some flashlights will be available, but best to bring your own. This is a rain or shine event: it may be entirely inside if necessary.
As founder of New England Curiosities, Roxie has been sharing her stories of New England legends and lore since 1993. She has captivated national audiences in person, as well as on television and radio. For our premier Heritage Dinner Family Style, she has prepared special tales based on research about the graveyard and legends of Odiorne and our coast. She will be autographing her books (available in the Nature Store) that evening.
