In continuing the celebration of World Cultures, Merrimac Public Library proudly welcomes Irish storyteller, musician and painter, David O’Docherty. Drawing from his vast collection of Ireland’s musical lore, O’Docherty will share traditional Irish stories and perform music on Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 pm.

Born in Dublin, O’Docherty has been immersed in the art of telling the stories of his heritage since he was a child. He is regarded as an authority on Irish music and as a virtuoso flute and tinwhistle player. His performance brings a rich display of stories and music interspersed with his good-humored and scholarly commentary on Irish history and culture. He has entertained audiences across Europe, the U.S., and Canada, and has been featured on television, radio, in theaters, festivals, universities, and pubs. He is also an accomplished painter and has exhibited internationally.

David O’Docherty’s Irish Storytelling is open to everyone of all ages. No pre-registration is required.
