For more than a century, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was a longtime Cambridge resident and America’s most beloved and most widely read poet. With poems like “Paul Revere’s Ride”, “The Courtship of Miles Standish,” and “The Song of Hiawatha,” Longfellow helped to form our national identity.

The Longfellow 200th Birthday Tribute is sponsored by the Longfellow Bicentennial Committee, Harvard University, and Harvard Extension School Alumni Association. A special Longfellow exhibit at the Houghton Library at Harvard University will be open before and after the tribute.

Popular media personality and author Christopher Lydon will host this event. The 2007 Henry W. Longfellow commemorative U.S. postage stamp will also be unveiled.
