Come for a walk in the park and learn about the exciting history of the 527-acre, 120-year-old jewel of the Emerald Necklace! Julie Arrison, local historian and author of Images of America: Franklin Park, will lead participants past old stone ruins, through woodlands, and across unique landscapes created by renowned park designer Frederick Law Olmsted.

The tour will begin with a history of the Franklin Park Zoo, including the spooky old bear dens! Also included will be Elma Lewis' original Playhouse in the Park, where Duke Ellington played, and White Stadium, where acts such as Richard Pryor and Sly and the Family Stone performed.

Meet at the rear 'giraffe' entrance to the Zoo. For questions, directions and to RSVP: rsvp@franklinparkcoalition.org or 617-442-4141.
