The Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is excited to launch its newest department, Child Enrichment & You, featuring both daytime interactive caregiver and childhood classes and an evening speaker series answering questions for parents and caregivers.

The only department to be added to the Boston Center for Adult Education in over 50 years, the program reflects the BCAE’s mission of bringing reality back to the classroom. “We’ve never had a program that involved children at the BCAE, but there is a definite need for one in the community.

Our move to the new facility on Arlington Street has made it possible for the BCAE to have both children and their caregivers participate in classes,” said Susie Brown, Executive Director of the Boston Center for Adult Education.

Beginning September 2010, the BCAE’s Child Enrichment & You department will consist of two parts: Bean City Kids and the Confident Caregiver Speaker Series. Bean City Kids will offer a series of interactive daytime programs for both children and their caregivers. Complete with music, cooking and gym classes, both children and parents will learn and interact with each other. “What makes the BCAE’s program different than any other is the level of interaction between children and their caregivers,” said Susie Brown. “Bean City Kids is a program for caregivers as much as it is for children. It’s interactive, engaging and informative for everyone.”

On Tuesday evenings, the BCAE will hold the Confident Caregiver Speaker Series, a guest speaker series designed to engage parents and caregivers in discussions with experts about pertinent child-rearing topics. “We created the Child Enrichment & You department as a resource for the community, and we’ve designed it as both a service and an educational program for children and caregivers alike,” said Susie Brown.

The Caregiver Speaker Series will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00PM-7:30PM at the BCAE and will cost $15 per class ($80 for entire series). Time and pricing for Bean City Kids varies. Please visit www.bcae.org for more information.
