For parents, parents-to-be, caregivers, and anyone who loves a child! Infants-in-arms and nurslings are welcome!
The class is taught by a father, who is a critical care paramedic/RN and a gifted teacher that uses real world examples and individual attention to ensure that all participants leave with the ability to actually use their skills. We have also been foster parents to more than 60 medically fragile infants and newborns, and have managed a number of common medical conditions. We are delighted to provide information tailored to the needs of your child!
You will be certified by the America Heart Association for 2 years at the end of each class.
We will focus on infant and child CPR, choking, and first aid basics, the things that will assist you in the emergency situations you are most likely to encounter while caring for children. We will also be introducing you to use of an Automatic External Defibrillator, recently used to save a child's life in a local school. As AEDs are being found in more and more public places, including athletic fields and gyms, it is deeply important that you be familiar with their use.
This class is designed to allow ample time for practice and questions. There is a 2-1 ratio for the mannekins you practice on to ensure that you leave able to use the skills we teach.
We will also have first aid kits available to order, with everything you may need in an emergency in a size that you can take with you easily.
