Join us for our “Innovative Shabbat Experience” day, designed for those who would like to celebrate Shabbat but may not be comfortable doing so in a traditional synagogue environment. The day will include study, music, and experiential approaches to Shabbat.

Whether you worship every Shabbat, once in a while, or never in a formal setting, this program may be for you. No prior knowledge or experience with Hebrew or Jewish practice is necessary.

Sessions will run consecutively from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm for approximately 45 minutes each. A lite bagel brunch will be available the entire time. Come and eat, learn and share for any or all of the day.

The schedule is:
10:00 – Welcome and overview of the day
10:15 – Meditation: a Shabbat for the Mind
Learn and experience a variety of Jewish forms and practice for personal and communal
meditation. No prior experience necessary.
11:15 – Zemirot and Niggunim (songs and melodies) from traditional Shabbat sources
Jewish songs and melodies for the home and the Synagogue out of the Jewish tradition
12:15 – Judaism for non-Jews
1:15 – Parasha (weekly Torah portion Ki Tavo - Deuteronomy 26:1-29:8)

Join in a Chevruta (guided small group and interpersonal sharing) study, relflections, and
meditation around passages from the weekly Torah portion. No prior experience or knowledge
of Hebrew necessary.

10:00 – 2:00 Drop in “ask the Rabbi” available on basic Jewish questions about ritual, customs, and
history. Lite bagel brunch available. Eat whenever you like.

All are welcome to attend any or all sessions. This day is designed for all ages and levels of connection to Judaism and the Jewish community. People who are interested in learning more about Judaism are also welcome. Families are encouraged to participate together. Here at the Vilna Shul, we define family as one or more person(s) living under the same roof.

This program is available free of charge.
