Manners matter.
Whether you look someone in the eye, the way you shake hands, if you hold the door open, remember to say thank you, give up your seat on the bus… Each moment can seem small and insignificant, but they paint a larger picture.
An impression is formed, manner by manner, which is long-lasting and meaningful. The character of a person, their humanity, is shaped by hundreds of these small moments each day. Who is this person? We can tell by watching those small moments.
The Etiquette Academy of New England believes that some of those daily gestures have been lost. In an age where people are more connected than ever, we sometimes seem less able to focus on small charities and passing kindnesses.
Our mission is to recall those values — teaching children (and reminding adults) how to be sensitive, caring and mannerly people. Yes, we can show you which fork to use when the salad is served, but that is not our primary concern. Rather, it is to teach an empathy and respect which will allow for natural social graces as one moves throughout their day.
If you are interested in our quest to teach empathy through etiquette, then read on to see the classes and courses we offer…
