: Do you know Stone Zoo is home to a number of endangered species including jaguars, Mexican gray wolves, Panamanian golden frogs, hyacinth macaws and others?

In honor of Endangered Species Day, be sure to visit on May 18 to learn more about these incredible animals.

Stone Zoo has partnered with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (Northeast Regional Office) to present an engaging day designed for visitors of all ages to learn more about endangered species and ways that they can help protect these animals as well as their habitats.

Children will have the opportunity to dress up as a field biologist or wildland firefighter, see confiscated wildlife products and learn about piping plovers, an endangered bird species that can be found in Massachusetts.
Throughout the day, there will also be opportunities to meet with the zookeepers and ask questions during scheduled zookeeper encounters.
Through May 11, children aged three to 10 are invited to enter the 4th Annual Endangered Species Day Coloring and Writing Contest at Stone Zoo!

Draw a picture of your favorite endangered species or write a short piece about the animal, detailing why they are endangered or what you can do to help.

Entries will be accepted through May 11.

The winners of each age group will be contacted and announced on Saturday, May 18, and will receive a certificate of recognition and the honor of having their work framed and displayed in the Animal Discovery Center.

Visit www.stonezoo.org for contest details and rules.
