Students will get well-supported, hands-on experience scoring a scene from a film.
We will discuss the technical side of film scoring (SMPTE, frame rate, spotting, tempo-mapping, MIDI sequencing) and the psychological side of film scoring (creating a mood, underscore and diegetic music, scoring action vs.
scoring a character’s mental state).
Students must provide their own Mac laptop with either GarageBand, Logic Express or Logic Pro, or Digital Performer, laptop power adapter, and headphones or earbuds.
A MIDI keyboard will be provided.
This course is for teens & adults.
No prior film scoring experience is necessary.
