The Neponset River and the land around it, including Bird Park, was once solely inhabited by the Neponset band of the Confederacy of the Indigenous Massachusett.
Despite multiple plagues, displacement, and brutal treatment, the Massachusett have survived.
Join Ren Green, Medicine Sac 'hem of the Massachusett, to learn what life was like for the Massachusett before and after Europeans settled in this area and what the Massachusett People are doing today to maintain their culture and traditions.
This walk takes place on the evening of the Strawberry Full Moon, which got its name from the local Native American tribes who knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about local Native American history at Bird park!
