Join us as we honor Black History Month and National Engineers week and learn about black men and women who have made important contributions to the field of engineering.

Lewis Howard Latimer (born in Chelsea, MA) was an American inventor and electrical engineer, who played an integral role in patenting the first carbon filaments for incandescent lightbulbs and the telephone.

Discover more of Latimer’s work and inventions as you experiment with some simple circuitry, and explore conductive and non-conductive materials. National Engineers Week programming is sponsored by Raytheon.
