The birth of every child has the potential to be a beautiful, transformative experience. This class will focus on birth as a healthy and normal event, emphasizing natural pain relief methods by practicing relaxation techniques, movement and positions for each stage of labor and birth, visualization techniques, and other comfort measures. We will also discuss anatomy & physiology, the roles of hormones in pregnancy and labor, how to recognize early labor, and the stages of labor and birth.

In addition, we will touch upon breastfeeding, newborns, and postpartum care. The goal of the class is that you will develop both the skills and confidence to labor and birth in a way that supports you during this transforming time in your life. Classes will meet over two consecutive weeks, on Mondays & Wednesdays, from 6-9pm.

Jean Sheehy is a certified Childbirth educator. Tuition fee is $200 per couple. Fee includes textbook and handouts.
