Join us for the WCCA Annual Spring Speaker: Dr. Stuart Ablon
Working With (not Against) Our Children: A new approach to conflict resolution
Weston Public Library, Community Room
Tuesday, May 5, 7:00 p.m.

Power struggles with children can leave all parties miserable with parents scratching their heads, wondering how it could have gone differently. If these show-downs happen regularly, the whole family can feel desperate.

Join us on for a discussion with Dr. Stuart Ablon and gain insight into particularly demanding kids while learning techniques that can work in any home to solve the everyday complexities of raising children. Dr. Ablon is Director of Think:Kids, which offers a new way to understand and help all kids, especially those with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.

An initiative of the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry, Think:Kids’ methods run counter to 'conventional wisdom' regarding rewards and punishment to offer an approach to conflict resolution that can be revolutionary. Their approach to solving problems collaboratively with kids creates an environment in which durable, mutually satisfying solutions can be found, and families and classrooms can move beyond old ways of solving problems into a new way that allows the concerns of both adults and children to be addressed.

In addition to his work with Think:Kids, Dr. Ablon is also Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and an internationally recognized clinician, teacher, author and speaker.
