The Parent and Community Build Group (PCBG) Inc. is sponsoring a FREE seminar on social media best practices to keep our Kids safe. Join Joan Pasquale, Executive Director of PCBG,Inc. and Doreen Nicastro, Social Media Strategist, Networlding Boston Facilitator on Saturday, May 15th from 1-3PM.
The goal of this FREE 90 minute seminar is for parents to understand Social Networking and Media; the safety challenges our Kids face and what we can do to help them.
Decisions Teens make about their Social Media profiles, what they say, the groups they belong to and the pictures they post have life long consequences that impact college scholarships, applications and future employment.
Recent headlines of cyber-bullying and the role Facebook plays is one more reason parents need to learn about Social Networking and Media. In addition colleges and organizations are now checking Social Networking sites as a 'tie' breaking method for choosing candidates. Kids need guidance to help make better decisions about their Social Networking activities.
Discussion topics include:
- Appropriate age for a child to have a social media presence
- Social Networking accounts
- Set account, security and picture settings
- Monitor your child's social media activities
- Language and tone
- Facebook profile, wall and pages
- 'Friend-ing' what it really means
- Photo selection best practicesul>
