Circumnavigating Ellesmere Island
Slides & Stories with Adventurers of the Year- Jon Turk and Erik Boomer

Menaced by polar bears and almost capsized by a walrus, Erik Boomer, a 27-year-old professional kayaker and Jon Turk, a 66-year-old writer and Arctic explorer, paddled, skied and crawled 1,500 miles to circumnavigate Canada's Ellesmere Island in 104 days.

They were the first to do so and were named 'Adventurers of the Year 2012' by Nat Geo Adventurer.
