In a project noteworthy for its depth and scope, Globe reporters lived in the neighborhood from May through September 2012, moving past stereotypes and gaining an intimate understanding of the community’s culture.
In this Boston Globe event open to the general public, members of the community featured in the series will share their perspective: “Big Nate” Davis, who lost one son to gun violence and the other to jail, and Father Richard “Doc” Conway, the priest who walks the neighborhood’s streets to connect with and help community members.
Journalists, a photographer, and videographer will discuss their experiences creating a series that integrated exhaustive reporting, narrative storytelling, and specialized use of innovative social and digital media tools.
The reporting team gained unparalleled access to paint a dynamic picture of the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood.
The discussion will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience.
