Can teachers of young children actually cultivate all of these skills in one classroom?
How can we evaluate different educational approaches and understand the ways they support children's development?
And how can high quality early childhood education lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning as well as build academic and executive skills?
Join Karen Belsley Pratt, popular early childhood blogger and PreKindergarten teacher at Charles River School, and Jocelyn Bowne, doctoral student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and researcher with the Center for the Developing Child, for a presentation and workshop for parents connecting current research theory and practice in early childhood education.
Together, they will address prevailing early childhood topics, including:
• the relationship between vocabulary and reading comprehension,
• the interdependence between play and learning,
• and the role of thematic curriculum in sparking motivation, inquiry and sense of competence as a learner.
