Since its inception in 1870, the Chestnut Hill Reservoir was both an early Boston water supply and a popular public park.

Designed landscapes of formal grassed banks, picturesque rock outcroppings, meadows, woodlands and rich architectural features attracted city dwellers for leisurely walks and carriage rides.

Discover the fascinating design history of the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, constructed at the height of Boston's 'Golden Age' and now preserved under the stewardship of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Enjoy a 1 hour scenic stroll to look at historic restoration efforts in progress.

Meet at the Waterworks Museum at 6pm.

Walk should take an hour.

There is no charge for this event.
