On November 6-7 2014, the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy will host its annual Human Rights Institute at Northeastern University School of Law (NUSL).
PHRGE Institutes convene scholars, practitioners and advocates to explore a pressing social issue from a human rights perspective.
This year’s Institute will analyze and evaluate the combination of initiatives known as “public education reform” from a human rights perspective. It will do so with an eye toward identifying policies that will help promote and support the human right to education (alongside all other human rights) for all U.S.
school children.
The Institute will feature a keynote presentation from Professor Julian Vasquez Heilig who has recently relocated to California State University—Sacramento.
In addition to writing and speaking widely on education policy issues, Prof.
Heilig is the author of the blog, Cloaking Inequity, which has been named one of the Top 100 Education Blogs in the World by Teach100.
His talk, entitled “When Discrimination is Called Civil Rights,” will take place at 6:30 on Thursday, November 6.
Early-bird registration ends October 15.
