With the help of a few Dominican friends, graduate students Valerie and Sam experienced another side of the island, taking a far more immersive approach to exploring the local culture and ecology of Hispaniola.
From the National Park of the East, where rainforest meets cacti and ashy-faced owls nest in bat caves, to the seaside resort community of Juan Dolio, where 'backyard' birds include palmchats and Antillian palm swifts, come enjoy photos and stories from their ecotour of the Dominican Republic, and learn how this island nation is intimately linked with our own New England backyard.
Location-themed buffet dinner and lecture or lecture only.
Pre-registration required for dinner by 6pm Tuesday, December 8.
Online registration available.
