300 years on Concord Road – A History of the Osborn Family
Step back in time on Sunday, November 6th during the Sudbury Historical Society’s next program beginning at 2:00 at the Sudbury Grange Hall (326 Concord Road).
Featured speaker David Colombo, an 8th generation descendent of the Osborn Family, will use original sources to present the history of his family’s farms on Concord Road.
He will tell personal accounts about his ancestors who lived in Sudbury going back several generations, and will illustrate his talk with photographs, heirlooms and antiques used in the everyday life at the homesteads.
The program promises to be most interesting as Colombo shows examples of what life was like 300 years ago and how the landscape has changed in the more recent past.
One of his family’s farmhouses is still a prominent element along scenic Concord Road.
Many founding families of Sudbury have been included in the Historical Society’s presentations over the years and now it is our privilege to showcase a family that was in Sudbury during the days when Sudbury’s first minister, Israel Loring, lived in the Parsonage that will become the future site of the Sudbury History Center.
Information shared by Colombo also furthers the SHS’s efforts to collect stories for the Sudbury Oral History Project, a new endeavor led by the SHS to grow our research library.
The program is free for SHS members and a $5 donation is appreciated from nonmembers.
Refreshments will be served.
