Sea jellies, commonly known as jellyfish, have become much more prominent in coastal habitats around the world.

They have had a negative impact on many human activities including commercial fishing, seaside tourism, and even power generation.

Lively and passionate Australian scientist and writer, Dr. Lisa-ann Gershwin, in her lecture “Jellyfish: Are They Taking Over?” will present why we are seeing more sea jellies and what it means for our future.

Ironically, sea jellies thrive under many adverse environmental conditions created by people including increased water temperatures, reduced oxygen levels, pollution and overfishing.

She will also be signing her new book, “Jellyfish: A Natural History,” after the lecture.
