The first major overhaul of Massachusetts’ public records law in more than 40 years went into effect January 1, 2017.

What will it mean for journalists and citizens seeking accountability, as well as for local towns and government agencies that must respond to information requests?

WGBH and The Eye invite you to a public discussion to help answer these and other questions about open government in the digital age.

Jan.

25, 2017, 7 pm
WGBH Studios, One Guest Street, Brighton, MA 02135
Tickets are free but RSVP is required: www.wgbh.org/events

The panel features experts representing diverse viewpoints on the new rules:

Todd Wallack, Spotlight Reporter, Boston Globe Bob Ritchie, emeritus Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association Geoff Beckwith, executive director, Massachusetts Municipal Association Jenifer McKim, senior reporter, The Eye

WGBH and The Eye have teamed up to investigate stories that matter to our region.

Join us for in-depth panel discussions with some of the major players on important local issues.

The Eye is the online news site of the New England Center for Investigative Reporting, a nonprofit newsroom seeking to strengthen democracy through the practice and preservation of investigative reporting.

Its stories are co-published with WGBH, Boston Globe, New York Times and other major media partners.

NECIR’s training programs serve high school students during the summer, mid-career reporters, journalism teachers, and journalists working in emerging democracies around the world.
