Dr. Cooney is the author of the critically acclaimed book The Woman Who Would be King, which tells the tale of Queen Hatshepsut’s rise to power.
Her career has spanned hosting the show Out of Egypt on the Discovery Channel and curating the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s exhibit Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, to researching crafts, coffins, and economies in the ancient world.
In her talk, Cooney will focus on the undeniable power and influence of those ancient queens who are often neglected in history books.
