Detours & OnRamps Seminar all day, May 15 at Bentely College. --a one day event covering many off the issues facing working mothers...those trying to get back involved in fulltime, flextime, or part time work; those trying to follow the path of entrepreneurship, those trying to balance career and family.

I'm a working mother myself, searching for that elusive 'balance', and put these events together to help fellow moms at every stage of their careers. I had my first event in the NYC area last October and I'm hoping for a Boston-area event just as successful! I have tapped into great Boston-area companies and women and I think it will be a great day. Fee is $125 fee which covers the day's sessions, meals, and a 'Mom's Tool Kit'.

Detours And OnRamps Balancing Motherhood And Work

I attended this seminar in May and learned fresh information about re-entering the working world after staying home with my children for 5 years. I never knew about companies like 'Ladies Who Launch' that help women starting their own business, or that there are placement agencies who specialize in finding jobs with 'mother's hours'. The best speaker was Carol Fishman Cohen, author of 'Back on the Career Track'. She described her journey back to working, how you can do it, how it's ok to find what works for you, but do it when it's right for the whole family. You often hear how important networking is to gaining a job. Before I discovered my profession's Association, I didn't really know how to make contacts or network. Thankfully, this seminar also avails the opportunity to network! Bring your business card, even if it is just your name and email! This event will be held again at Bentley College in the fall (Tuesday, November 4, 2008) and in the spring, May 14th, 2009.
