The Downtown Boston Business Improvement District (Boston BID) hosts the neighborhood’s seasonal milestone: the Macy’s Holiday Tree lighting on November 22.

Visitors in November and December can expect bright and colorful lights spanning the main thoroughfares, hundreds of lighted trees, giant hanging snowflakes, and winter-themed plants and landscaping along the streets.

Downtown Crossing becomes “Snowflake Crossing” in December with a slate of seasonally inspired programs, hundreds of streetscape decorations and lighting, and live performances throughout the neighborhood from post-Thanksgiving weekend through December 18.

my wife and kids have made this tree lighting a holiday tradition for about 15 years even before it was Macy's. we get front row every year and never fail too enjoy it, its beautiful if you get to one event in Boston on Nov., 25th make sure this is it.

Macy's Tree Lighting

Okay, a friend and her daughter suggested we try this event. None of us had ever ventrued to downtown crossing the day AFTER THANKSGIIVInG thinking that this day might be pure crazieness. However, this was one of the best holiday experiences. We brought our nine year old daughterwho were star struck and awe struck. Celebrities, magical Christmas tree, confetti flying through the night ... really fabulous and free. Hats off to Macy's.
