The services to honor the life and legacy of Mel King include a wreath laying at Boston City Hall, a day of remembrance, and a funeral in the South End.

Wreath laying with City of Boston leaders, including City Council President Ed Flynn. This event will feature a brief speaking program, where Mayor Wu will read a proclamation declaring Tuesday, April 11 as a citywide day of remembrance for Mel King.

Funeral service
Union United Methodist Church

12:00 p.m.
Students from the Boston Arts Academy will perform a tribute as part of the funeral service.
Due to limited capacity, tickets will be required for admission. Community tickets will be available to the public on a first come, first served basis on April 7 at unionboston.org/melking.
Additionally, the public will be able to sign a condolence book paying tribute to Mel King at Boston City Hall (3rd floor) and the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building (1st floor & 2nd floor school committee room) from noon on Monday, April 10 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11.
Flags on City Hall Plaza will be at half staff until sunset on Tuesday, April 11.
