Derek Jacoby carries on this tradition with The Emperor’s New Clothes, a work based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale that features the beautifully trained Marimba Magic percussion ensemble. These talented young people will also perform the first work written for Marimba Magic and BMV, Andy Vores’s Vanishing Cream, which tells the story of a young boy who “rubs out” his family but soon discovers he can’t live without them. Rounding out the program is the classic work about another “bad boy,” Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, in a special chamber ensemble version. The brilliant Steve Aveson narrates all three works.
