The band known as Milkshake invites kids and grownups to “shake it up” at an all-ages rock concert at Showcase Live, 23 Patriot Place, Foxborough, MA, at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 28.
Milkshake makes music as cool, frothy and fun as its name, with amazing pop-rock songs that just happen to be for kids. Led by singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl, whose Baltimore-based indie rock group, Love Riot, garnered critical praise during its 10-year run, Milkshake has won over preschoolers without compromising songcraft, stagecraft or their authentic rock & roll spirit. Their colorful, energetic videos have been featured on Noggin, PBS KIDS, and Discovery Kids.
Milkshake performances are a top draw nationwide. Kids come to shows with toy and homemade instruments and get caught up in Milkshake-mania, going bonkers along with the band. It’s fun for parents, too, who enjoy Milkshake’s tuneful, memorable songs evoking influences ranging from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Lennon-McCartney.
Comprised of veterans of several Baltimore alt-pop, hard rock and progressive bands, Milkshake writes and performs music that is as musically sophisticated as it is lyrically lighthearted and child-centered. Never condescending, the group speaks a universally appealing language; a language familiar to young and old, child and parent, music fans of all ages. In addition to great music, Milkshake will have a free Milkshake comic book for each family at this show!
