Talented musicians who come from around the world to study at Longy’s renowned music Conservatory are cooking up something special for the finale of our Family Series. Stay tuned for details as their creative juices flow and the show unfolds. A premiere performance, just for you and your family!

The program will feature:
—Jessica Rossi, voice student, accompanied by pianist Mark McNeill will present “How Do They DO That?! —Breathing for Singers.” In this segment, Rossi will let youngsters and their families in on the secrets that all prima donnas use to sing loud, high and legato (without breaks between notes).

—Dennis Shafer, Artist Diploma Candidate, and percussionists John Andress and Leah Kosch will present Table Music by Thierry de Mey. It’s more than music with hands on a table -- its theatre! Youngsters learn how to make music with their hands through body percussion, clapping and using a table. No other musical training or materials needed!

—Juan Ruiz, clarinet, Andres Rotmistrovsky, bass, Jose Allende, guitar, and Paulo Stagnaro, percussion, will present 'Pa-ra pam, pam, pam!”: A trip to Latin America. The tour will begin with a palette of Colombian-Caribbean rhythms. Then it’s on to Argentina for a Piazzola style tango. Next to Brazil for some samba and to Peru for the danza. They'll finish with some very familiar tunes -- Cuban style!

—Adrienne Bassett, violin, and Jessica Rossi, narrator, will present “Sounds Like a Story.” The program will pair The Velveteen Rabbit story by Margery Williams with Beethoven's Romance in F for Violin and Piano, capturing the timeless tale of the Velveteen Rabbit who longs to be real. The story and music are intricately interwoven to guide the audience through the spectrum of musical emotions and colors, coaxing imaginations to awake and opening the world of classical music to beginning listeners of all ages.
